The Gympie and District Community Centreplace will be the managing body responsible for the project, and active involvement of the tenant organisations will be encouraged through participation on a Steering Group.

  • The project time frame is for the building to be built by December 2005. Individuals and families have the benefit of a range of services being located in close proximity of each other, increasing the awareness of available services and reducing travel and time required to access such services.
  • Increased communication between the accommodated services as a result of the close proximity and the clear management structure which promotes communication and collaboration
  • Greater utilization of existing nearby community facilities
  • Involvement of a wide range of groups, service providers, government departments and local community members in the development of the building promoting community awareness and ownership
  • Community groups will benefit from the collaboration between services, the initiation of joint projects, network development and resource sharing that is fostered through colocation
  • Enhanced accessibility to services by the community due to central location of the facility, the range of services provided in the one venue with access for all.
  • Enhancement of a model of service delivery that has proven to work effectively in the Cooloola region
  • Prevent the closure of the only limited hours child care facility in the Cooloola region
  • Security of tenure for 16 community groups.
  • An improved likelihood of clients following through with referrals to other agencies within the complex.
  • Ease of referral pathways for outside services
  • Increased safety and security for community workers.
  • The development of a culturally and aesthetically healing public place.
